How Will You Learn So Many New Chinese Words?
When you start to learn a new tongue it can be a daunting experience. If you are a native English speaker then at least languages such as French and Spanish have a lot of similar words which you can learn quickly. However, with the Chinese language
everything is likely to be new to you when you begin your classes.
Take It One Step at a Time
You canít expect to learn an entire language in a short period of time, especially when they are an estimated 20,000 characters in the Chinese language. Studying this tongue is likely to be a lifetime hobby once you get into the swing of it if we are being honest. Perhaps the best you can do is try and curb your enthusiasm so that you limit yourself to trying to pick up a certain number of words and phrases each day or each week. If you do this then you should benefit from an almost constant upward curve in your learning, which will help keep your enthusiasm levels high.
As we saw earlier, it is far more difficult to make connections between English words and their Chinese equivalents than it is with certain other languages. This doesnít mean that it is impossible, though. If you are a creative person then it should be possible for you to find some sort of mnemonics based approach which lets you tie in a new word you are learning with some sort of image in your head. This is a clever way to remember many words which might otherwise slip your mind as you pick up new words. You might only need to do this until you become more comfortable with Chinese and it becomes second nature to you.
Get the Right Classes
Of course, the lessons you take are going to be essential in getting you on the right track with your new second language challenge. Thankfully you donít need to worry about the time and the expense of going to Asia to learn it now. Do you need to take Chinese classes in New York?
